Red Bird of Paradise, Paradisaea rubra, Waigeo Island, Raja Ampat, West Papua, Indonesia. They tend to have one favourite branch of a dead tree, on which they prefer to perform and display. The leading male attracts the females to that place, tries to charm them and then usually mates there and then with the chosen female. Each morning it is only once or twice that mating takes place there. Usually several females hang around to try to get mated with.
