An old growth forest with lichen-clad trees, something that is unfortunately more and more uncommon and precious in the world of today. Lichens take many decades to grow this big and they are also very vulnerable to air pollution. That is why we see less and less of these habitats today and we really need to cherish and enjoy and protect those that are still standing. A good Boreal forest ecosystem first starts to be really valuable for biodiversity once the trees have reached an age of about 130 years.
